It is my intention to provide good quality and safe home based child care, where your child can thrive and enjoy their time spent in a family type environment.

Of course the most important thing in your child's life is you and although I will contribute to the care of your child, I can never take your place as a parent and would never try to do so.

As such we have very full and varied days, whatever the weather with many visits to play groups and childminder groups, country parks, farms, gardens and play areas to name a few places. We are a very 'out and about' setting and visit local attractions or just take a picnic out to somewhere new. We often plan to join other settings when on an outing. This provides a great social experience as well as extra security when travelling a bit further afield.

I have a garden with an open grassed area where we make dens and play games etc. We have a decked area for the children to use with a 'mud kitchen' area. An enclosed decked area adjoins the house and provides great fun for ride on vehicles all year round. The children like to use 'tuff spot' trays for investigation of various materials and messy play and we are always adding new ideas to our outdoor space.

We have a few Bantam hens in a run in the garden which joined us at one week of age. The children have seen them grow and all enjoy helping with them as well as checking for eggs!

The children also have a herb garden and join in with various gardening opportunities through the year.

Inside we have a large selection of toys to suit all ages and these are rotated weekly for variety. The children can access various resources to enhance role and imaginative play and I am always taking on board new ideas to keep things interesting. There is a good mix of adult and child led activities and all plans we make are flexible to allow for the needs of all as well as activities taking us off in a direction we hadn't planned! We do, however, have a term setting plan to give us 'loose' ideas for fun and learning.

We try to be environmentally friendly and make use of the local 'Scrapstore' to gain resources for creative play and other ideas.

We are very sociable and often visit other settings or are visited by other childminders for play as a larger group.

We love to learn about the children's lives at home and welcome sharing experiences such as festivals and celebrations.

Since my registration with OFSTED, I have been attending further qualification courses to build upon my levels of care.

At the moment I hold a Diploma in Home Based Childcare (DHBC) at Level 3 (Dec 2010) and have attended Safeguarding training at Level 4 (May 2013).

I hold a Paediatric First Aid Certificate (Jan 2014) and am currently completing a self study course at Level 4 on Child Psychology.

I attend PACEY Quality and Practice in Play sessions (QPPS) both with and without the children and also termly updates on policy etc.

My home has been checked by Hampshire Fire Brigade and additional smoke detectors were installed by the team. I have smoke alarms in both floors and a fire blanket in my kitchen.

My home and practice are regularly risk assessed to ensure the safety of all who attend.
